Hi, all! Exciting news: Thanks to the generous donations of so many people, I am now fully funded!! Thank you all so much for that! You don’t know how much it means to me to know how many people love and support me.

This Tuesday is the big day. Mom is going to drive me down to the World Race base camp in Gainesville, Georgia, and then I will have a few days there to get to know my team better and to receive some training to prepare me for Costa Rica. It has come up so fast! I am super excited, but I am also starting to feel the nerves kicking in.

I have had a lot of people ask me what I will be doing for the month that we are serving. To be perfectly honest, I am not entirely sure. Costa Rica has a very fluid culture, which means that the people don’t place the biggest importance on times and schedules. What I do know is that we will be living with host families and forming connections that way. We will also be participating in service projects and working with the local church, Iglesia Monte de Sión del Evangelio Cuadrangular. The biggest goal for our mission trip is to form relationships with the people we interact with in order to encourage and empower them to live their lives for Christ.

My biggest need right now is prayers. From messaging my team, I know a lot of us are as nervous for this trip as we are excited. I, for one, have never been away from home for this long in my entire life, and I am a little concerned about how homesick I will feel and if that homesickness will interfere with the work I am being called to do. Please be praying for peace that surpasses understanding to settle on me this coming month, and for a courage that isn’t my own so I can reach out to the people I meet to show them what the love of Jesus looks like. Also pray that everyone on my team stays safe and healthy.

We have been told that we should have access to wifi at least once a week while we are there, so I am hoping to be able to post updates on my blog throughout the month on how things are going and what we are doing. I might be able to post pictures as well. If you want to be notified as soon as I make a post, I believe you can subscribe to this blog and accept notifications for that. Also! If you want to see who the other people on my team are, you can go to the World Race’s homepage for Costa Rica at worldrace.org/route/costa-rica/, and scrolling down on there you can see a very brief overview of the trip and photos of everyone who is going.

Again, thank you all for your love and support! It really means so much to me!
